I had a call earlier this week from Mary. Mary started her career in the medical device industry. Several years ago, she put her career on hold to raise her kids. Now that Mary’s kids are older, she has an interest in getting back into the medical device field. Mary started networking in her local business community. Several of the contacts she made suggested that Mary contact Creo Quality for what to do next.
I’m glad Mary called. We’re happy to help. Interestingly, Mary’s question was one we’ve heard many times before. It just hit me that since Mary and others have had this question, maybe I should spend a little bit of time writing down my response for others to review too.

The April 10th networking event will be at The City Market, upstairs in our own section of the mezzanine by the Tomlinson Tap Room. There is no cost, yet we will have some amazing food from several vendors in the market, as well as drink tickets for the Tap Room!

While much has been debated in the 510(k) realm, we have yet to see true statistical data – until now. Ralph Hall, counsel for Baker & Daniels, recently completed the first major study examining the 510(k) system. This presentation, which is sponsored by IHIF, IMDMC and Baker & Daniels LLP, will provide a detailed look into his research and the resulting potential implications for the 510(k) system.
The Institute of Medicine (IOM) is in the midst of an 18-month assessment of the 510(k) system and whether it provides adequate product safety. Hall’s work will be presented to the IOM and those Congressional offices interested in possible changes to the system. Hall’s study will provide the aforementioned policy makers with the critical data they need to make 510(k) guidance decisions.

On December 4, 2009, the Indiana Health Industry Forum (IHIF) will host a Neuroscience Summit, fourth in a series of conferences examining sectors of critical importance to Indiana’s health and life science industries.
This year’s summit offers the opportunity to participate in a Poster Display in conjunction with the event. The Poster Display is open to companies, programs, initiatives, and products highlighting neurologic research, treatment, diagnostics, imaging, care delivery, and awareness programs.

This four-part, informational seminar series focuses on the Health Information Exchange (HIE) networks in Indiana and provides up to the minute information on the state’s efforts to win stimulus funding made available through the ARRA federal program. This series also explores related topics in Health IT and provides opportunities for networking with others in the field. Programs are video broadcast from host HIE community sites to a number of convenient viewing locations across Indiana. Programs will be recorded and available to watch after the event for those who are unable to attend in person. If you are interested in learning more about current topics in healthcare IT and the federal stimulus funding available for growing the sector, this series is for you!
