Project Management Key Points
February 3rd, 2010 by Jon Speer
So many people think project management is only about project timeline. Wrong. An effective project management process is so much more than just a schedule.
“16 Points To PM Maturity” from ProjectSteps provides a list of 16 key project management points. Here are a few from the list:
- Adopt a project management methodology and use it consistently
- Commit to developing effective plans at the beginning of each project
- Select the right person as project manager
- Cultivate effective communication, cooperation, and trust to achieve rapid project management maturity
- Use project management software as a tool - not as a subsitute for effective planning or interpersonal skills
- Institute an all-employee training program with periodic updates based upon documented lessons learned (which in my experience is NEVER done)
Be sure to read the entire list of points.
