Mark Leahey on the Medical Device Tax

November 2nd, 2009 by bderam

Mark B. Leahey, president and chief executive of the Washington-based Medical Device Manufacturers Association, believes that many medical device companies could go under if the proposed tax is enacted.

“This is not an industry like the pharmaceutical industry,” where innovation often comes from deep-pocketed conglomerates, Leahey said. “The real research and development in this industry comes from small players who are just struggling to get by.” (Read The Washington Post article)

According to USA Today, Mark Leahey has stated that trade groups are pushing their members to  write lawmakers about the medical device tax.

We encourage all of you reading this post to contact your Congresspersons and and express your concerns about the healthcare reform and medical device tax being proposed.
