Bioabsorbable Stent Performs Well In Clinical Trial

Results from Abbott’s bioabsorbable stent are in. The results show that the stents were completely absorbed after two years. The study demonstrates the feasibility of implantation of the bioabsorbable everolimus-eluting stent. I’m sure we’ll hear more about this soon.

The interesting part to me is that Abbott seems to have the potential to lead the pack in coronary stent market. Abbott played a huge part a few years ago when Boston Scientific acquired Guidant. I thought then that their move would put them on track to lead the stent industry.
