I came across a presentation from Jeff Ready from a recent “Idea to Business” seminar. I wish I was in attendance. Mr. Ready, most recently founder of Scale Computing, is a serial entrepreneur I’d like to meet. As I flipped through the slides, I liked “Jeff’s 9 Truths of Business”. I thought I’d share them with you:
- You need more ideas.
- Your ideas suck.
- You can always count on the incompetence of your competition.
- The customers have all the answers.
- Everybody wants to be a pirate.
- You can’t use 3rd party research to verify an idea you already have.
- The good idea will emerge from iterations on the bad ones.
- You won’t learn to shoot a basketball by reading books.
- You won’t learn to shoot a basketball by being the equipment manager.
