The program will be a panel discussion focusing on the start-up company and the importance of protecting its intellectual property, reasons to secure formal IP protection, common strategies employed by companies, the importance of IP to investors, and recent changes in patent law and the potential impact.

Speaker Biographies:
Melinda Schriver, President of LacPro Industries, LLC. Ms. Schriver has over 20 years experience in finance, investment banking, small business management, communications and health care advocacy. She earned an MBA in Finance from Indiana University in 1987. LacPro Industries, LLC, a start-up company, researches, develops, and manufactures high quality, effective probiotics. LacPro has both issued patents and pending applications focusing on probiotics.
Dustin DuBois, partner, Ice Miller Private Equity and Venture Services Group
Dustin DuBois is a partner in the Ice Miller Private Equity and Venture Services Group. His practice ranges from management of intellectual property portfolios to assisting clients with business negotiations involving intellectual property. Mr. DuBois graduated from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 1992 with a major in chemical engineering and a minor in economics. He earned his law degree at Indiana University School of Law in 2000.

Mark Reichel, associate, Intellectual Property Group, Ice Miller LLP
Mark Reichel is an associate in the Intellectual Property Group at Ice Miller LLP, where he concentrates his practice on patent drafting and prosecution, patent litigation support, and general intellectual property matters. He currently focuses on the preparation and prosecution of medical device patent applications, active involvement in a number of local not-for-profit organizations, and maintenance of his intellectual property law blog, the Daily Dose of IP. Mr. Reichel received a B.S. degree in biochemistry from SUNY Stony Brook in 1996 and J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Indiana University in 2002.
