Animated Instructions For Use

Many medical products and technologies are highly sophisticated and sometimes complicated. While good product design should drive intuitiveness and easy to understand user interfaces, there is still a compelling need for good labeling and product instructions for use (IFU). Most IFUs today are in print form, contain a few line sketches, with a great deal of text. The printed IFUs are helpful (usually) but could certainly improve. Some companies have taken the next step by providing CD-ROMs, product training, and other media to educate and inform end-users. Since we are in the Web 2.0 era, another form of media gaining some momentum are virtual product simulations and animated IFUs. One company pioneering this field is Seyet. Here is a recent simulation Seyet created for a new percutaneous tracheostomy device.
