Making the Entrepreneurial Leap

Recently, while scheduling some meetings, I came across an appointment on June 12 that said “Leap Day”. I was confused but after some thought remembered what this referred to. Roughly one year ago, I found myself laid off and looking for employment. At about the same time, I considered the possibility of providing services to medical device clients.

I ended up taking a full-time position with a medical device consulting company on June 12, 2006. I set a personal goal by one year later (6/12/2007), I would be in business for myself 100%. Rather than just say this, I decided to make an appointment for myself. I decided to title the appointment “Leap Day”.

“Leap Day” actually came early on March 12, 2007. Creo Quality has taken off since then. I continue to spend the majority of my efforts with a start-up client. However, the types of projects and activities have been more enjoyable than I imagined. Not everything has been roses, but I am having a lot of fun.

My question to you: Do you enjoy your career? If not, you should.
