Minutes from April 12, 2007 MBDG Meeting

Here are the meeting minutes from the April 12, 2007 ASQ Midwest Biomedical Discussion Group–Thanks to Scott Willis again:

Hello everyone,Below are the minutes for our ASQ Biomedical Discussion Group last week. It was a great meeting and all 16 people contributed. I will be sending out an additional e-mail this week seeking high level topics we can discuss on CAPA. This topic garnered the most interest in our survey. We will be having group discussions on these high level topics during the next several DG meetings and finish off with an expert presentation on the subject. Please feel free to contact those of us that were in attendance at the meeting. Everyone left excited about the possibilities of exchanging ideas and learning from each other. Please plan on joining us at the next meeting May 24th.Meeting Date: 4/12/07

Seminar Discussion

  • Barry Craner offered to speak on risk management.
  • Group agreed to focus on CAPA and risk management initially.

  • Could break topics e.g. CAPA into sub discussions

  • CAPA lead / program chair – John – target September 2007 (Note: Tentative based on MDBG Meeting Format Discussion – see below)
  • CAPA co program chair – Pat
  • Risk Management lead / program chair – Risk Management
  • Potential to attract other ASQ groups to some seminars. For example, the military group would be interested in risk management topics, and groups could learn from each other.

MBDG Meeting Format Discussion

  • Group agreed to strengthen ‘discussion’ content of group
  • Meetings will be centered around an informal discussion of biomedical topic
  • Discussion will lead to seminar if needed
  • Group discussion will educate members, and allow us to tailor the presentation to the focus on the areas of the topic we need.
  • Keep the discussions focused on biomedical issues
  • Discuss best practices
  • Break into small groups if needed
  • Allow for concluding discussion at the end including what worked and what didn’t work
