The ASQ Midwest Biomedical Discussion Group (MBDG) met again on April 12, 2007. We had a good crowd with attendees from Elkhart, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Seymour, Bloomington, Franklin, and others. Attendees also represented companies in orthopaedics, pharmaceutical, IVDs, dental, clinical, disposable device, consultants, and service providers. Specific companies represented included Creo Quality (me), Roche Dianostics, Lilly, DePuy, G&H Wire, IU Medical School, Sabin, Product Action, Freije Quality Engineering, Medivative, and Oxygen Education.
The night was following a fairly typical path: food, introductions, small talk amongst guests, a slide presentation. And then a remarkable thing happened. One of the attendees (Erol), shared with us why he decided to attend. It was the promise of something different and included within the title of the group: discussion. The whole room lit up. Everyone at that very moment got excited. It was an electric statement that probably breathed whole new life into the MBDG even though we just got started.
So per the suggestion of Erol and the discussion of everyone at the April 12 MBDG meeting, the format of the next meeting will be a discussion. The topic will relate to some aspect of biomedical CAPA. More news soon containing minutes from April 12 meeting and details about May 24, 2007 meeting.
